I am happy to present my blog to you! The site and my first book reflect years of wearing multiple hats as a musician, arts administrator, educator, producer, and cultural entrepreneur. It is my response to my friends, family and colleagues who asked to hear more about my experiences and observations.
Over the course of my career, the arts environment (as well as many other things) have changed dramatically. The cultural scene today, both in the United States and abroad, is very challenging. I plan to explore these shifts in depth and respond to new developments as they happen. My wonderful friends in many countries give me an international perspective through our ongoing discussions about artistic and cultural issues. I will also share with you personal stories from interactions with some of the most creative minds of our time, which I hope will inspire you to broaden your own personal investigation of the arts.
I hope you will take the time to read my book, which is an in-depth look at the larger puzzle of creativity and all of its components. I feel deeply that confusion in the arts is reflected in confusion in our society. My blog is an opportunity for me to continue my book’s discussions, expand upon those ideas, and respond to current events.
As I continue my travels abroad, I will also carry those experiences back to my readers. I appreciate everyone who visits my blog and hope you will continue to read over time.
